George Wayne Harris

     George Wayne Harris, 83, of Quitman, Arkansas passed away January 10, 2017 at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born July 23, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Powell Harris. He was a carpenter by trade, and worked for Carl A. Nelson Construction Company of Burlington, Iowa for forty-two years. Mr. Harris was a member of Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church.

     His main hobby was playing golf. George also enjoyed his time fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

     Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one son, Danny Harris; one granddaughter, Sarah Knight; and four brothers.

     Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Thye Harris; two sons: Jeffrey (Nicole) Harris of Nevada, Iowa and Michael (Erin) Harris of Nauvoo, Illinois; two daughters: Susan (Greg) Knight of Marion, Iowa and Lisa Harris of Burlington, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
