Charles Edgar Hollowell, age 83 of Heber Springs went to be with the Lord March 25, 2017, Born March 10, 1934 in Canton, Mississippi he was the son of the late Frank E. Hollowell, Sr and Neoma Edgar Hollowell. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs.
Charlie was a born again Christian and believed in his Savior. He also believed in attending church regularly. He was a Gideon and served in many positions in that organization. Charlie spoke to many churches in this area until his stroke which made it hard to speak well.
Mr. Hollowell worked for a Stationers Distibution Company out of Memphis where he sold office supplies and furniture. He was a real estate broker and sold property in Eden Isle. He also worked for New York Life Insurance Company for several years and then later worked for National Hardware Store and F.L. Davis Hardware Store in Heber Springs. He was also a licensed airplane pilot and enjoyed flying. As is evident he worked many places and wore many hats. His abilities and talents were amazing and he did a wonderful job all the places he worked.
The thing Charlie loved most was making people laugh. He was a good husband, father, grand-daddy, and great-granddaddy. We will miss him and his amazing wit.
Charlie was preceded in death by one brother, Lt. Colonel Frank E. Hollowell, JR.
Survivors include his wife Catherine House Hollowell whom he married January 16, 1960; two sons, Keith Hollowell (Sandra) of Sherwood, AR and Charles E. Hollowell, JR of North Little Rock, AR; one sister, Marty Howard of Canton, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Comeaux, Keaton Hollowell, Evan Hollowell, Claire Catherine Hollowell, Nicholas Hollowell, Daniel Hollowell, and Ronnie Mathews; two great grandchildren, Noah and Sawyer Comeaux and many friends. A funeral service will be Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Sugarloaf Baptist Church with Brother Tony Criswell officiating. Visitation will the from 10:00 am until service time at the church. Interment will be in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Serving as Pallbearers will be deacons of Sugarloaf Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or Sugarloaf Baptist Church.
