Mack A. Shearer age 67, passed away May 21, 2011 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born December 17, 1943 in Wilburn, Arkansas to Lawrence “Bob” and Geneva Pate Shearer. Mack was a devoted husband and father, a Christian, who loved life and his family, a generous man who would help any one in need. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a hardworking man, the successful owner of a trucking company, starting with just one truck and successfully building it to over fifty. He loved racing and was the proud owner of Team McSheer Motorsports. His motto was “Chasing the American Dream,” and he chased everything in life with great enthusiasm and zest. He accomplished many of his dreams and goals in life, including driving a race car, having his pilot’s license and flying a plane.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Jan Shearer of Rose Bud, Arkansas; four sons, Billy Mack Shearer and wife Shannon of Heber Springs, Micheal Shearer of Mayflower, AR, Brint Hartwick of Quitman, AR and Brad Hartwick and wife Stephanie of Tumbling Shoals, AR; two brothers, Lawrence “Doug” Shearer and wife Ina of Wilburn, AR, Browney Shearer and wife Florence of Coloma, Michigan; two sisters, Ruth Southerland of Wilburn, AR, and Geraldine Lucas and husband Fred of Sherwood, AR; six grandchildren, Carson Lucena and McKenna Shearer, Spencer and Slade Hartwick, and Jordan and Haydan Hartwick, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. also at the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Magness Cemetery in Wilburn, Arkansas.
