Louis Ray Baker
Louis Ray Baker, 73 of Heber Springs, AR went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2009. He was born March 17, 1936 in Calhoun City, Mississippi to the late Jim Lewis and Ollie May Baker.
He is survived by his wife Freda M. Baker, one daughter Cheryle Wall and her husband Donnie of Bella Vista, AR, one son John and his wife Jan of West Helena, AR, three granddaughters, Emily Anne, Jana and Addy, a brother Robert Baker and his wife Sally of Lilburn, GA, two sisters Nelda and husband Ken Strong of Penn Valley, CA, Ruth Ann and husband Howard Moore of Haskell, Oklahoma, a loving sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ralph and Patsy Davidson of West Helena, AR and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louis Ray graduated from Dumas High School and attended Arkansas Tech University. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956. He also owned several businesses in Dumas, Arkansas and was a member of the City Council and Quorum Court. He was elected mayor of Dumas in 1990. In 1999 he and his wife retired to Heber Springs, AR.
Louis Ray was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 84, a Mason, a member of the Dumas Hunting Club on Big Island, a member of the Cleburne county Newcomer’s club and an active member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Heber Springs. A memorial service will be held Tuesday December 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home in Heber Springs, AR. 1199 Wilburn Road Heber Springs, AR 72543
