James H. Tarbutton age 87, passed away April 4, 2010 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was born October 31, 1922 in Loving, New Mexico to Tarah and Mary Elizabeth “Matie” Ingalls Tarbutton.
He was a World War II Veteran, drafted in 1943, and went overseas in July 1944, landing in Naples Italy. He took part in the invasion of Southern France, Central Europe and Rhineland. He was a part of the Division Army battery D, 433rd AAA (AW) BN automatic WPN Crewman 601 Rifle MKM. He also had retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1987 and moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Norma Coy Tarbutton whom he married August 21,1948,
also one daughter Brenda Carleton and husband Randy, one grandson Adam Carleton and wife Tara and their children Seth and Logan, one granddaughter Ashlie Athinson and husband Gene and their children Hailey and Hayden all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by one brother Dean Tarbutton and wife Winona of Springfield, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home with Pastor J.R. Debusk officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday April 9, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home.
Internment will follow on April 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Veterans Cemetery at 5201 Southwood, Springfield, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Gideons Organization.
