Jackie Douglas Kever, age 71, went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his family on June 9, 2011, in Heber Springs, AR. He was born on February 12, 1940 in Drasco, AR to Dorvil and Bernice (Liles) Kever. Doug grew up in Heber Springs, attending the University of Central Arkansas. After that he worked on a pipeline, then help construct the Greers Ferry Lake Dam and the Dardenelle Dam. He married Jane West and moved to Little Rock. He worked for a bank, then Moore Ford and ended up at Little Rock Dodge as the business manager. After many years, he returned to Heber Springs and retired a second time from the Cleburne County Road Department as bookkeeper. Doug enjoyed his family and doing things with his daughter and granddaughter. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Doug is survived by his wife, Jane (West) Kever; one daughter, Barbara and son-in-law Henry Engler; and one granddaughter, Anna Engler; his mother, Bernice (Liles) Kever; one sister, Onine and her husband, Alvin Philamlee; his father-in-law, John West; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John E. and Shirley West, Tom and Patty West, Carl and Tresa West; his aunts, Nelda and Dewey Young and Mary Francis Liles. He also has numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dorvil; and one brother, Dewayne. He was loved dearly and will be truly missed by his many family and friends. A visitation will be held at the Heber Springs Funeral Home from 5-8 Saturday, June 11, 2011. A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home.
