Fred P. Cairo age 83, passed away May 6, 2010 at his home in Heber Springs, Arkansas.  He was born December 8, 1926 to Ferdinand Cairo and Elizabeth Tenuta Cairo in Chicago, Illinois.  He was a former member of the Heber Springs Bass Master Fishing Club and The Muskies, Inc. Fred was a avid fisherman, and also designed and made fishing lures.  He had retired after 25 years from Northern Illinois Gas as a Fleet Manager.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty Jean Cairo of the home; one son, John Cairo of St. Charles, Illinois; one step-son, Albert Barilla of Long Beach, CA; two daughters, Elizabeth Eagan of Salt Lake City, Utah and Jacqueline Hubly of Naperville, Illinois; three step-daughters, Stephanie Alexius of Clinton, TN, Anna Marie Cairo of Salt Lake City, Utah and Linda Sadler of St. Charles, Illinois. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Cairo and Elizabeth Tenuta; one daughter, Victoria Miller and one sister Jo Marie Pratl.

In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the St. Albert’s Catholic Church building fund in memory of Fred Cairo.

A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the St. Albert’s Catholic Church located at 21 Park Road in Heber Springs, Arkansas.  All arrangements are under the direction of the Heber Springs Funeral Home.
