Edgar “Ed” Hales, 75 of Heber Springs departed from his home on earth to go to his heavenly home on December 27, 2010. He had a long and courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson, and even though he was in pain most of the time he always had a smile. Ed was a meat cutter by trade and worked in Memphis for 20 years. After moving to Heber Springs in 1977 he immediately fell in love with the beauty of the area and his beloved “Chigger Ridge”. He was a Baptist and a long time member of Cleburne County Baptist Church. He was born July 22, 1935 to Hines and Viney Hales of Forest, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Janette Hales; one daughter, Patricia Reynolds (Guy) of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Eddie Hales (Cheryl) of Nashville, Tennessee; grandson, Joseph (Katia) Reynolds of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Janice Hales and one great grandson Tristan Hales of Nashville, Tennessee.
Services will be held at the Heber Springs Funeral Home on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 5:30- 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cleburne County Hospice at 2319 Hwy 110 West, Heber Springs, Arkansas 72543.
