Clifton “Cliff” Allen Tarwater, age 75, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away October 5, 2011. Cliff was the fourth child born to Earnest and Elva GilmoreTarwater on February 25th , 1936. Cliff helped on the farm but always wanted something more. He left home at an early age and worked at a lot of different jobs. He traveled to Michigan City, Indiana where he worked and lived most of his life. Cliff retired form Sprague Devices in Michigan City where he was employed for thirty six years. After retiring he came to Arkansas and lived in McCrory and Newport. In late April he came to Jonesboro for treatment for several strokes he had. Later he was placed in Jonesboro Health Care and passed away at that facility from a heart attack.

Cliff was a happy go lucky kind of a guy and could top anyone’s story. His family stated he would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. Cliff is in a better place now and is home with his Mom and Dad. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Birt and Clara Tarwater and Samuel and Emma Gilmore; his parents, Earnest and Elva Tarwater; three brothers, Preston, Clarence and Cledis who died when he was an infant and one infant sister.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Allen Tarwater and wife Danielle of Ashford, Alabama and Steven Allen Dickey; three daughters, Catherine Cheatham of Altus, Arkansas, Patricia Bowden (Dennis Bullard) of Searcy, Arkansas, and Symantha Beal of La Port, Indiana;three sisters, Loresa Brownderville and husband Boyce of Jonesboro, AR, Laverne Carter of Harrisburg, AR, and Anita Howe and husband Randy of Austin,TX; two brothers, CM Tarwater and wife Glenda of Hickory Ridge, AR and Marlin Tarwater and wife Sue of Balb knob, AR;  six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Eldon Ray Brownderville, Bruce Tarwater, Lee Tarwater, Dustin Tarwater, Cory Green and Dale Moss. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Carter and Daniel Moss.

Visitation hours will be Tuesday, 9:00 to 11:00 am, October 11th at Friendship Assembly of God Church on Harrisburg Road south of Jonesboro. Services will be 1:00 pm at the church , Tuesday, October 11th with Rev. James Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Lewis Cemetery near Hickory Ridge, Arkansas.

Prior to the service on Tuesday flowers may be sent or brought by AFC Sales, 2574 Hwy 163, one mile south of Friendship Assembly of God Church on the west side of the highway.
