Edward Dewey Cleek, age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in Little Rock, AR. He was born September 4, 1928 in Dunbar, Virginia to Earl and Bernice Cleek. He was a retired Army Veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam, also doing tours in France and Germany. After retirement from the military he worked at the Army Air Force Exchange Services as the head of security. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion, the NCOA, the New Comers Club and the Heber Springs Springers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, and most of all being with his children and family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ingrid A. Cleek of Heber Springs, AR; one son, Bruce E. Cleek and wife Penny of Arcata, CA; one daughter, Bernice N. Crook and husband Wendell of Sommerville, TN; one brother, William Sydney Cleek of Nashville, TN; one sister, Anna M. Carter of Mountain Home, AR; sister-in-law, Julia P. Cleek of Heber Springs, AR, and friend Mrs. Arline Vlastnik; also five grandchildren, Jonathan E. Crook, Jason T. Crook, Jeremy A. Crook, Donald J. Cleek and Kimberly F. Cleek; six great-granchildren and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Thomas Cleek and Bernice Hughes Cleek, two sisters, and three brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 25, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with a Visitation one hour prior to service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs, AR or the Heber Springs Humane Society. All arrangements are under the direction of Heber Springs Funeral Home.
