Christopher Coker Finney, age 86, of Heber Springs, AR went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Born September 2, 1924 in Clarkton, Missouri to Alice Mrytle and Thomas A. Finney. After 36 years, of being a Air Traffic Controller in the Memphis Tower, he and his wife retired to Heber Springs. There was nothing that he couldn’t build or fix. He built two airplanes, his home and many deer stands. He loved his days of flying and hunting. After joining Sugarloaf Baptist Church in 1992, he served as an usher, a handy man, and mowed the grass for 10 years. He loved serving in the Lord’s house any way he could. While still in Memphis, he supported and helped in starting the Whitehaven Southern Methodist Church. He also served in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by daughter Jeannine Wallace of Heber Springs; grandsons, Paul Wallace of Greenbrier, Daniel Wallace, and wife Deann of Greenbrier, AR and Jeremy Wallace of Conway, AR and great-grand daughter, Rachel Paige Wallace of Greenbrier; one sister, Jenny Greenwood of Tampa, Florida and many, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 55 years, Billie Jean Finney, his son Dane Christopher Finney, and son-in-law, Kenneth L. Allen.
Services will be Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sugarloaf Baptist Church by Bro. Tony Criswell. Music by Roger Pettit and the Sugarloaf Choir.
