Bruno Hess
Bruno Roland Arnold Hess, beloved husband of Virginia Bateman Hess, was born on April 4, 1944 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland and died December 14, 2009 in Searcy, Arkansas. Bruno was a resident of Heber Springs, Arkansas.
He was the son of Arnold Hess and Gertrude Hagan Hess of Switzerland. Bruno loved the Lord and the United States of America. He retired from International Paper Company in 1994. Bruno and Virginia spent the next three years doing Christian mission work in Moscow, Russia. The past ten years Bruno lived in and loved the community and people of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Bruno was fluent in five languages and enjoyed doing translation and interpretation work at St. Jean Industries in Heber Springs. He recently returned from a trip to Germany to visit his daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Markus, and granddaughter Stella. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bruno was a very sweet, special man who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his dear wife, Virginia; his beloved daughter, Andrea Hess Klein (Markus) and granddaughter Stella of Stuttgart, Germany; daughter, Kay Humphreys Abernathy (Bill) of Germantown, TN: son, John Bateman Humphreys of Heber Springs, AR; daughter, Virginia Flournoy Humphreys of Traverse City, Michigan; son, William Herbert Humphreys (Gretchen) of Heber Springs, AR; and grandchildren, David, Sam, Molly, Selden, Hugh and Stella who dearly loved their Opie. Also left to miss him are his much loved dogs BlackJack, Lucy and Maggie.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Heber Springs, Arkansas.
